John 15:13 – Verse of the Day 6/20/14
What would you be willing to do for your best friend? How far would you be willing to go to help him or her? In our best moments, we might be willing to sacrifice a lot for the good of our close friends, but would you ever be willing to die for one?
This is what makes Jesus’s sacrifice for us so powerful. He died for us when we were sinners. This means he died for us when we were His enemies. Jesus did not die for us because we were his friends – he died for us so that we might become his friends.
Can you imagine dying for your enemies? Can you believe that this is exactly what Jesus did for you? As you remember the love that God has shown for us in this remarkable sacrifice, give thanks for the gift of fellowship that comes from being united to Christ through faith. Pray that you would demonstrate the same love to others that He has shown to you, and ask God to help you see specific opportunities to do so.
