Psalm 103:6 – Verse of the Day 8/1/13

Psalm-103-6

Psalm 103 is a song of thanksgiving to the Lord for all he has done. As the psalmist considers the Lord’s might works he cannot help but praise God from his “inmost being.” The song opens by considering God’s provision for the psalmist personally and then proceeds to list the many ways that God provided for the people of Israel more generally. This verse provides the hinge between these two sections. The Lord works righteousness and justice for all who are oppressed, both as groups and as individuals.

Sometimes it is hard to believe that the general promises of God apply to us personally when we do not experience their fulfillment in our present circumstances. Spend some time in prayer considering God’s faithfulness to his promises, both in the Bible and in your own past. As you consider God’s faithfulness in the past, ask Him to help you to trust Him in the future. Most of all, praise God for all He has done for us.
