Psalm 107:31 – Verse of the Day 6/7/14
Can you think of a person in your life who has loved you with a “steadfast love.” What does it mean to love others in this way? Now think for a few minutes about the way that the songs we listen to and movies we watch talk about love. Would you say love in music and movies is steadfast? Or would you use a different word to describe it.
While the Bible does not deny that love should be something we feel, it usually speaks about love as something that we do. Jesus is the ultimate example of God’s love for us. Just as God was committed to his people Israel in the Old Testament, he demonstrates his steadfast commitment to us in the New Testament through the sacrificial life, death, and resurrection of Jesus. There is no greater picture of steadfast love than this.
Spend some time in prayer thanking God for his steadfast love, and the way He shows us this love in the Bible from Genesis to Revelation. Thank God that He loved us enough to forgive our sins through Jesus’s sacrifice for us. Thank God that He promises to provide for all our needs. Pray that you would trust Him that He loves you, and ask Him how you might live in response.
