Psalm 147:3 – Verse of the Day 9/15/14
Can you remember a time when you were completely broken hearted? Perhaps you were disappointed when something you had hoped for did not work out. Maybe someone you loved and trusted let you down. Possibly you have literally experienced heart troubles or other physical sickness. The trials of this life make it easy to forget God and become depressed.
The psalmist knew these feelings exactly when he wrote this psalm of praise to God. While we may struggle in this life, the ultimate reality is that we worship a God who heals us and binds our wounds. We can be certain of this because we know the lengths to which God was willing to go in order to save us. Jesus died on the cross in order that our sins might be forgiven and our wounds might be healed.
As you pray, ask God to help you remember the sacrifice he made in order to restore your soul. Thank God for his mercy and forgiveness. Ask God for the ability to remember these realities when life’s difficulties tempt you to feel broken hearted.
