Psalm 23:6 – Verse of the Day 1/30/14
Psalm 23 is a prayer for comfort, and possibly the most well known passage in the Bible. This verse closes the psalm as the psalmist reflects on the comfort that comes from living in the presence of the Lord. The word for “mercy” can also be translated as “love” and refers to God’s covenantal commitment to His people. Nothing can separate us from the love and mercy of the God who promises to save us and bring us into His presence through the sacrifice of Jesus.
The presence of God offers life and peace. Thank God for the promise that He will never leave us, and pray that He would give you a longing to experience His presence fully in Heaven. Thank God for the promise that He will never leave us while we wait for that day, and thank Him for the gift of weekly worship as an opportunity to gather together with His people and worship Him. Take comfort from God’s promise to be with us always.
