Psalm 27:1 – Verse of the Day 3/27/13
Psalm 27 is a Psalm of lament with an interesting structure. While most of the second half consists of a cry to God for Him to hear and provide his presence, this cry is grounded in the statement of confidence in the Lord that makes up the first half and also forms the conclusion. The confidence of this verse is powerfully reiterated in the Psalm’s closing lines, “I am still confident of this: I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord.”
We can wait for the Lord because he promises to be the light and salvation to all who believe in Him. Therefore those who believe have nothing to fear. Spend some time asking the Lord to help you believe these truths, and to remind you of them when you are tempted to feel afraid.
