Psalm 4:8 – Verse of the Day 1/27/15
Have you ever made a promise that you knew was very important? What did you do to show the person you made the promise that you would definitely keep it? Interestingly, the Bible is full of promises called covenants, and God goes to great lengths to show us that we can trust his promises. The Psalms offer lots of good examples of this.
For example, this verse if from a psalm of praise and trust. David trusts in God because he believes his covenant promises. David knows that God will be true to His word because He is a God that does not lie and does what he says he will. David slept peacefully in the midst of trouble and danger because he knew he could trust God’s promises to save him.
David’s circumstances made him painfully aware of the transitory nature of life and its uncertainties. As a result He cast Himself on God and found his only comfort in God’s presence. Spend a few moments in prayer considering God’s promises to be present with you always, and thank Him for such a wonderful gift.
