Psalm 46:10 – Verse of the Day 2/24/14
Psalm 46 is a song of lament. The psalmist confesses that God is our “refuge and strength” and an “ever-present help” in the midst of trouble (verse 1). The psalm’s primary theme is that God’s presence with us brings protection. It is easy to despair when we forget that God is with us, and the Psalmist calls us to pause and remember His presence with us – a presence that gives us strength and invites us to praise him.
As you pray, remember that God is almighty and offers his power and protection to us. Although we do not see him, He promises to provide all we need and not to allow us to experience temptation beyond what we can bare. As you pray, ask the Lord to help you remember these truths and to prepare you for life’s troubles and temptations. If you are not experiencing them now, you will eventually, but take comfort when you do from the promises of God.
