Christmas Voices: Favorite Songs and Recipes

This year, we’re rounding up some of our favorite bloggers to get their thoughts on faith and family. We asked them:

What is your favorite Christmas song and why?

Leah of As We Walk Along The Road

I love the music of The Messiah, especially the Hallelujah chorus because I think it reflects the glory and majesty of Christ.

“Mary, Did You Know?”

When I became a mom six years ago I suddenly viewed Mary in a different light. She was a teen, a virgin, and suddenly she had a baby. She was outcast, traveling pregnant and I can’t imagine how scared she was. I do wonder if she had any idea of who her baby would become, and because she said “yes” and took a huge step of faith, her child changed the world.

“Mary Did You Know?” is my favorite Christmas song because being a mom has allowed me to better understand Mary’s circumstances. It shares how even as a baby, Jesus was the King, the great I AM, the Messiah.

What is your favorite recipe to make at Christmastime and why?

Leah of As We Walk Along The Road

We love to make Bull’s Eyes- peanut butter balls dipped in chocolate.

Aurie of Our Good Life

Sugar Cookies (of course), peanut brittle, and Holiday Bread which is a closely guarded family secret!

A tradition we have started with our kiddos is eating Bubble Rolls on Christmas morning. It is an easy recipe that is put together the night before. Because you only have to pop the rolls in the oven in the morning, you can have a low stress Christmas day. And you can’t beat the yumminess!

How do you make Christmas special with songs and goodies? Let us know in the comments!
