As the Assyrians were getting weaker, Judah had a time of peace. Things seemed to be going really well! Then along comes Jeremiah, saying, “Trouble is coming! Repent! Turn from your wicked ways!” And people would say, “Says who?” And Jeremiah would say, “Says God. I’m his prophet.” And then someone ELSE would pop up and say, “No, I’M God’s prophet, and I say things are gonna be GREAT for a LONG time!”
So which message would YOU like better?

Yep. And so everyone listened to the false prophets, and ignored Jeremiah.
