1 Chronicles 16:8 – Verse of the Day 1/21/15
Can you think of one of the biggest moments of your life? If you can remember a time where you celebrated a big accomplishment or something wonderful that happened to you, then you can probably imagine how the people of Israel responded when the Ark of the Covenant was returned to them in Jerusalem.
This verse is the first line of David’s song of thanksgiving when the Ark of the Covenant was returned to God’s people. His words would have been a comfort both to the people of his day and in the years that followed. Just as David rejoiced at the return of the Ark of the Covenant, the people of Israel rejoiced at their return to the Promised Land. David also invites us to rejoice at the blessings of God in our own lives.
Just as the people of God rejoiced at God’s blessing, so should we. God was faithful to his covenant promises, faithful to restore His people to the Land, and He will be faithful to bring us to Heaven as well. Spend some time in prayer, rejoicing for God’s promises and His provision. Thank God with joy for his acts of faithfulness to you in the past, and his promises to be faithful in the future.
