Ephesians 5:19 – Verse of the Day 1/19/15
Music is very powerful. We can express so many emotions in our songs, and words can have so much more power when they are set to music and sung. Can you think of a song that is especially powerful to you?
This verse is from the end of the book of Ephesians where Paul talks about the new life we have in Christ. Paul’s main idea is that worship is primarily for God, but in this verse we see that worship also benefits the people of God at the same time. Our new life in Christ has at least two purposes: to glorify God and to encourage our brothers and sisters in Christ. No matter what we sing, all of our praise is to honor God and build up the body.
As you spend some time in prayer, give God praise for all He has done. Consider how you worship and ask God to help you to worship faithfully for his glory and the benefit of others. Ask the Lord to give you the joy that comes from worshipping God as He deserves. Most of all, praise God for the salvation that is ours in Christ.
