Isaiah 29:19 – Verse of the Day 2/2/15
How do you feel when you get bad news? Most people don’t feel very good at all. It usually feels much better to get good news. Therefore when we get very bad news we often struggle to remember the hope that Christians are supposed to have at all times.
This verse is from the part of Isaiah that is filled with prophecies of judgment, and this chapter in particular is full of very bad news. And yet this verse speaks of hope for the future. How can that be? In spite of present judgment, Isaiah remembered God’s promises when he looked to the future. Because God promised to restore his people forever, Isaiah teaches us that we should hope in the midst of dark times when we remember those good promises.
Do you allow the experience of daily circumstances to determine your outlook on life? God has been faithful to his promises in the past and he can be trusted to be faithful in the future. Spend some time in prayer thanking God for the eternal hope that comforts us in the midst of all life’s difficulties.
