Psalm 30:5 – Verse of the Day 9/2/14
Can you remember a time when your pride kept you from doing what you knew was right? When we are proud, one of the hardest things to do is admit when we are wrong. Yet admitting that we are wrong is usually one of the most important things we can do to heal the hurt that comes from our wrongdoing.
Psalm 30 is a song of repentance and thanksgiving. David recognized that his pride led him to forget God and nearly led to his destruction. Only when he turned to the Lord did he experience healing, salvation, and security. God’s anger does not last against those who repent and turn to him, just as the night does not last when the sun rises in the morning.
Spend some time in prayer, repenting of your sin and thanking God for His promise of forgiveness. Thank God that his anger does not stand against those who have been forgiven through the work of Christ. Give thanks that God’s anger against you has been satisfied and that now when He looks at you He rejoices over you and calls you His own.
