Psalm 34:17-18 – Verse of the Day 9/22/14
Has there ever been a time where you felt all alone in the midst of trouble? It certainly can feel like there is no one who can help us when we experience pain and suffering. Often it really is true that no person can give us any earthly help. There are some illnesses that doctors cannot treat, some problems that people cannot be helped, and so the feeling that no one is there may be a legitimate feeling.
And yet no matter what the circumstances, God promises to be with us, to hear us, and to deliver us. God’s timing may not always match our own desires, and his purposes in allowing us to suffer may be hard to understand, but this verse reminds us that God is always near the brokenhearted and He never fails to save the crushed in spirit.
As you pray, ask the Lord to help you remember his faithfulness to you. If Jesus loved us enough to suffer on the cross in order to receive the penalty for our sin, this is a God who can be trusted to deliver us. Thank God that He hears you and for His promise to deliver you.
